Driver's Seat

Winter Park.  We've spent a lot of time in this town but this was our first time to exhibit at its Autumn Art Show.  I'd heard loading in and out can be a very difficult unless your booth is located on the street.  We were in the park on the grass which I much prefer.

This show is just absolutely wonderful.  You can read about it (and see pictures including a very ugly one of me) HERE

Sales wise, this was the best show I've ever done.  Ever.

Mark fell ill with food poisoning during load out and was unable to help get us out of there.  I'll spare you the details.

What should have taken 1.5 hours took double that and thankfully his brother Tim who lives nearby was able to help me.  We were parked maybe .2 miles away and had to cart the entire booth, piece by piece and it took at least 5 trips.  That wasn't the worst part though...

Mark couldn't drive and I didn't have my glasses.

Not to mention...

One of my worse fears is driving at night in unfamiliar places.  I never want to be behind the wheel in big cities and am ashamed to say I never had been.  I was literally shaking and in tears and Mark was trying to convince me I could do it between bouts of heaving.  I was heaving too at this point from pure fear and dread.

Sing it to me Carrie!

Jesus take the wheel!!!

I-4 was a nightmare,  the FL Turnpike was Satan and I-75 and I-10 were as much fun as a root canal.  But you know what?

I did it.

I drove us all the way home.

Safe and sound.

No glasses, just a dirty contact in my dominate eye and a Guardian Angel flying above us the whole way home.

My body felt every mile of that drive the next day.

He said he was proud of me and promised to never, ever, ever eat another shrimp taco from a food truck again.

And I might just get my CDL...
