Fluffy BFFs

I have a couple of mottos.

I would not want to live in a world without Dogs, Glass or Wine

and

You've never had a BFF unless you've had a Dog

Dogs?  I have three of them.

I'm one of those people who treat dogs like humans, maybe even a little better.

I sing to mine.  I rock them like babies.  They sleep in my bed with me.  I buy them presents and treasure them and promise them I'll love them until the end.

The end is what I push far, far from my mind.  It's only happened once and I'll write about that another day. Apparently two years and nine months is not enough time to heal.  Actually, I don't think time comes in a big enough package for that, at least for me.

But I have these three.

Finnegan, a poodle mix who is almost 12.  He is mean and protective.  I could use him a a weapon if I needed to.

Once, he bit a perfectly good attorney and drew blood.  He even bit my Mother-in-law. I do not know his pedigree, but I assume he's part Poodle, part Satan.

Sometimes it's hard to love him, but we do because he's a dog.  And he is ours.

Then there's Phoebe.  Phoebe Trixiebell.  She came to us five years ago when the first person she owned needed to re-home her.

She's a Maltese and they need a lot of attention.  Her first mom was away from home too much and she loved her enough to share her with us.  She still visits even though she lives 200 miles away.  Because she still loves her enough.

Then there's Griffin Hans Tyrion who is four.  At first it was just Griffin Tyrion but that sounded like a disease so I gave him a middle name.

Unlike the others, we purchased Griffin from a Maltese show breeder.  I am all about rescue but I refuse to apologize for spending a small fortune for this puppy. I got exactly what I wanted and well, maybe this one rescued me.  Who knows?

Griffin could not be shown which is what this breeder strives for.  She does not breed to sell, she breeds to show.

My baby has a snaggle tooth.  Only perfect teeth are allowed in the show ring.  I happen to think this snaggle is his most endearing quality.

To me, all Fluffs are perfect.  Even Finnegan.  In fact, we've decided to put him to work.

If you have a particularly nasty Mother-in-law, bring her over.  I'll donate 100% of the fee to dog rescue.
