Just One More

Just One More! A Holiday Art Show

Just One More is just exactly that for me.  Just one more.  The last one I do for the year.

JOM is situated in downtown Tallahassee on Park Ave.  It used to be a one day show, and was very good so many artists lobbied for it to run on Sunday as well.   I was thrilled when this came to be.

What I didn't know was that this now two-day show would require set up on both Saturday morning AND Sunday morning.  After the show ends on Saturday, the tents are removed only to be erected again in the wee hours of the following morning,

This year was bone chilling cold.  Saturday was damp and cloudy until late afternoon. Thankfully, Mr. MoonDog purchased a propane heater that made setting up before daylight bearable.  We ran it on high for two days straight and still had propane left in the tank at the end of the show.

The cold and blah weather was far from the worst problem this show suffered.  It simply lacked traffic or energy.  Back in the day, this show boasted two parks worth of pure talent, both fine art and craft and many artists were from outside our area.  Now however, the number of artists fit comfortably into one park and more than a few do not return on Sunday.

I hope there's a way to breathe life back into Just One More.  It would be a shame for this show to die, and at the very least, I believe it needs to go back to being a one day event.  Setting up twice for little if any profit is not worth the bother.  It'll be interesting to see how this plays out next year.
