One Day, Day One

Yesterday went better than I had anticipated.  That is until the last leg of our journey.  Our plane had a "mechanical issue" and by the time it was resolved, the wings had to be de-iced and guess what?  So did all the other planes that had wings because, DUH, Polar Vortex!

While we were waiting for a Lyft, Nicholas invited me to play in the snow with him and for a good 5 minutes, my stress melted away while the snow promised not to because 5 minutes of snow play is not nearly long enough for a snow virgin.

It took my mind a long time to settle after we arrived at our rental but once it did, I had the best 3.5 hour sleep I've had in years.

...

Today was pre-op with a total of 5 appointments.  Unlike Flight 4881, there were no issues or delays.  If Mayo Clinic ran the world, there would be no turbulence or frozen airplane wings and everyone would be on time.  Every time.  The world would see peace, the lines would never be long at the grocery store and every ceiling would be beautiful.

We got his covid results a few minutes ago.  I took a deep breath and held it when I opened the message.  Nicholas wasn't concerned, but I was because we were told a positive result would postpone surgery for one month.  Praise God he is negative.

Tomorrow is a free day.  We'll do whatever Nicholas wants.  It's his One Day to enjoy before he's on the table and on his way to a mended heart.  But that's well over 24 hours away and I pray it goes as well as Day One.
