Tagalong

Today's the day.

Our flight leaves at 2:26 this afternoon.

Because of something they call a Polar Vortex that awaits us in Rochester, our luggage is twice what it should be.  As I write this, the current tempature is -17 with a wind chill factor of -34.  The high today is -2 and when we land tonight just after 10:00, it'll feel like -17.  Our coats, hats and gloves alone bought all the real estate in one large bag.

But...

I made sure there was room enough in my carry-on for Nicholas' childhood friend.  Davey was with him for his very first surgery, two surgeries, in fact and came along to Jacksonville with us many times.  I told Nicholas I was bringing him and he tried not to let me see him smile.  He said, "Sure, he can tag along".

It's going to be a long day.  And after Nicholas falls asleep in his bed tonight, I'm going to sneak in his room and plant Davey right beside him.  I'm sure Little Tagalong remembers the drill...
