The Sally Show
Ten days before the Jubilee Festival in Daphne, Alabama was set to open, a Catagory 2 Hurricane paid them an unwelcomed visit.
Damn you Hurricane Sally. Why did you have to pick on that sweet little town?
So an email came today that next weekend's show is a no go. Nothing to do with covid, the hurricane damage in that area is too severe to safely hold an art show in their downtown area. Not to mention all the residents who have a lot of work ahead, cleaning debris and repairing all the damage.
Airstream
Today, 6 months and 12 days after I broke my arm, I have been declared HEALED. My range of motion will continue to improve as long as I keep stretching it daily.
For the past two months or so, I've been having pain in my other shoulder. Lately it has been severe enough to make me ugly cuss and getting worse by the day. The pain, not the language.
No Show
Usually this time of year, I'd be burning through propane tanks and having a full kiln of beads by 11:00 a.m. and on my third pot of coffee.
Not so much these days though. Art shows are still being postponed or canceled. Thankfully, I do have a handful still willing to believe "The Show Must Go On". The last weekend of this month is the Jubilee Festival in beautiful Daphne, Alabama. This will be my 6th year and I just love everything about this event.
Nineteen
It came in slight, like the breath of a dragonfly resting atop a blade of freshly cut grass
It surveyed its land and decided this was a fine place to lay claim
It was subtle and stealth and unwavering and determined
Like a pioneer
Then it planted itself in undesirable places
Wherever it dared
Like a game of chance
It spread like peanut butter on a fresh wedge of bread
And offered itself to a hungry child
Faces hid in the daylight and prayed after dark
