Baby Daddy

I love this man.  After all, he cooks all our meals, he cleans, he does laundry and only watches the grainy black and white War channel when I'm not at home.

He rides his mountain bike every day and swims laps at least four times a week.  He does this to stay healthy and fit so he can keep taking care of me as we grow old.  Older.  Like losing our hearing old and going out to dinner at 4:00 p.m. old.

Mikasa

I started this year with good intentions.  My cup would runneth over and never be half empty.  I would be optimistic and up beat and walk away from dessert.

Well damn.  The first month of the year isn't even over yet and my cup is already broken.

I still have dragons in my yard.  I should have slayed them by now but there they are, making a mess, setting fire to my calm.

I've got a to-do list a mile long.

I've got things bottled up and guards I'd love to let down.

Ending

Well 2017, you were all over the place.  Accomplishments, failures, heartache, bits of joy.  I'll call you an artist though, as you've painted lines on my face, and drawn a few in the sand.

There were thorns, there were roses, mountains to climb and clouds to ride.

Business wise, I broke all my records and exceeded my expectations.  I've gotta say, I'm very proud of that.  I earned it.

A Blonde Walks Into a Convenience Store...

I busted Mama out of the nursing home today and we went to see my sister Beth and afterwards, visited my favorite new store, Sand and Soul Designs in Sopchoppy. Afterwards, I wanted to take her to get ice cream and was advised (by three people) to stop by Rocky's Wakulla in Medart because they have really good frozen yogurt! I'd never been there but have heard it's a pretty cool place, and since it's right by the nursing home, I thought I'd give it a try.

Just One More

Just One More! A Holiday Art Show

Just One More is just exactly that for me.  Just one more.  The last one I do for the year.

JOM is situated in downtown Tallahassee on Park Ave.  It used to be a one day show, and was very good so many artists lobbied for it to run on Sunday as well.   I was thrilled when this came to be.

Market Days

I look forward to Market Days every year and it just keeps getting better!  The largest show I do, there are around 300 or so booths and a crowd so big that everyone has a chance to make good money.

This show benefits the Tallahassee Museum and there are many dedicated, hard working folks who make it all happen.  Held at the Fairgrounds inside buildings (unless you prefer to set up outdoors), this is one show where I never need to worry about weather.

St. Augustine Art Festival

I was new to this show and was not surprised that they stuck me way, way back on the very last row, only one from the end.  I was nearly in a corner but there was nothing I could do about it.

Set up was early in the morning, a good thing, but the weather was dismal.  Cold, damp, misting rain with wind that cut through all my layers.  Okay, I only had one thin jacket but it was enough.  I hate wearing lots of clothes.

Bradley's Fun Day

Tallahassee is home to one of the most charming, old timey county stores in the South.  Situated 12 or so miles away from the city, Bradley's Country Store was built in 1927 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places back in 1984.  Follow the link at the end of this post.  Step back in time.  Be warned though, you'll find yourself craving sausage and grits!

Artisans in the Garden

Artisans in the Garden used to be a two day show.  Restructuring and parking issues led the business who hosts it to not only scale back the number of artists, but make the show a one day event.

Tallahassee Nurseries is a gorgeous venue.  The organizer does a fabulous job with layout and people really seem to love this show. This year we had everything in our favor.  The weather was crisp in the morning but warmed up nicely and stayed mild all day long.  There was a good crowd right from the start and it stayed busy up until closing.
